What is AntikKOMBO
“We don't care about antiques, we want their stories.”
We don't put antiques in a museum. We do not preserve their current state. AntikKOMBO is about the continuation of stories.
The designers of AntikKOMBO gained many years of experience as carpenters and restorers before and during their studies. About a year and a half ago, they came up with the idea of breaking new ground in restoration.
Nowadays, antiques are either preserved in their original state or the original condition is painstakingly recreated. The usual restoration process puts them into a kind of slumber, turning them into a silent relic of a bygone era. We wake them up again.
We believe that antiques tell stories. Stories about the person who commissioned it, the cabinetmaker who made it and, of course, the life story of the piece of furniture. They are what make antique furniture special. You come across them in the details. So we don't focus on the furniture as a whole, but on the parts that have something to tell. These can be special shapes, working techniques and the patina created by age.
AntikKOMBO takes these details and creates a new framework for them. We respond to the recovered pieces, play with them and relate them to modern materials.
