Björn grew up in Burgdorf, a charming rural town near Hannover. After completing a solid apprenticeship as a carpenter, he decided to pursue his passion for creative work and earned both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Product Design.
During his Bachelor's studies, he founded Antik-Kombo, through which he gave antique furniture new life. With a keen sense of style and great attention to detail, he combined traditional craftsmanship with modern design ideas. His furniture pieces were showcased in exhibitions across Germany, featured in print and television media, and were nominated for the prestigious Marianne Brandt Prize.
In addition to his entrepreneurial work, Björn was also employed at the HAWK Hildesheim, where he took on the role of head of the product design workshop. Simultaneously, he contributed his experience multiple times as a product designer for the Grüne Werkstatt Wendland, where he coached aspiring designers and inspired them with his knowledge and passion for creative design.
Photography has become another essential field of expression for Björn. His work explores the relationship between people and their surroundings — how individuals shape, and are shaped by, the spaces they inhabit. Driven by the same curiosity that guides his design process, he uses the camera as a tool to observe, interpret, and occasionally intervene in everyday life. His images often reflect a sensitivity for atmosphere, rhythm, and the subtle traces of human presence within urban and social landscapes.
His Master's studies took him to Colombia for a year, where he collaborated with a local ceramic manufactory in Medellín. Together, they developed innovative designs that reflected the harmonious fusion of traditional craftsmanship and modern design approaches. After completing his studies, he took a position at Ostfalia University in Wolfsburg, where he currently serves as a lecturer and head of the Product Design workshop at the Institute for Recycling.
With his diverse experience as a designer, craftsman, and mentor, Björn is constantly striving to enrich the world of design and inspire the next generation of creative minds.
