Cup Series
This series explores the relationship between tool, material, and form.
At its core is the deliberate use of an unconventional tool within a ceramic context. By introducing a foreign logic into clay and porcelain, the process generates a formal language that feels both familiar and unexpected.
Rather than treating the tool as a neutral means of production, the project considers it as an active force in shaping the object. Surfaces, edges, and transitions emerge through this interaction, creating forms that challenge conventional associations with ceramic material.
The cup remains recognizable as an everyday archetype, yet its character shifts through the way the material is approached and transformed. Each piece sits between familiarity and abstraction, function and expression.
Produced in small series, the cups evolve through subtle variations in material, process, and form. Each series becomes a new interpretation of the same underlying idea: that tools do not simply shape objects — they also shape the language through which those objects are perceived.

The first series was presented in 2016 as part of the international exhibition One more cup … at Handwerksform Hannover.
